Victoria Renshikan Karate has been a cornerstone of the martial arts community in Victoria, BC for 36 years. Our dojo is located at Saanich Commonwealth Place, where we offer structured karate training for youth, teens, and adults in the Chito-Ryu tradition.
Our programs emphasize discipline, respect, physical fitness, and personal growth. Whether you are a beginner stepping onto the mat for the first time or an experienced karateka working toward your next belt, our instructors provide supportive, expert guidance every step of the way.

From young beginners to experienced adults, our classes build skill, discipline, and confidence through traditional Chito-Ryu karate.
Our youth program introduces children to the fundamentals of karate in a fun, structured environment. Students learn basic stances, strikes, blocks, and kata while developing coordination, focus, and respect for others.
Designed for teens and adults at all levels. Training covers advanced kata, kumite (sparring), and self-defence techniques. Build strength, flexibility, and mental discipline through rigorous traditional training.
Our structured grading system follows the traditional Chito-Ryu belt progression. Students are evaluated on kata, kumite, kihon (basics), and knowledge of terminology. Gradings are held at the end of each session.
All classes are held at Saanich Commonwealth Place, 4636 Elk Lake Dr, Victoria, BC.

Our belt system follows the traditional Chito-Ryu grading path. Each rank requires demonstrated proficiency in kata, kihon, and kumite.
Grading requirements include kata (Pinan Nidan, Kihon Dosa Ichi, Kihon Dosa Ni, Zen Shin Kotai, and more), kumite, and knowledge of Japanese terminology. Please contact us for detailed rank requirements.

All participants train at their own risk. A signed waiver is required before joining any class. Parents or guardians must sign on behalf of minors.
